The premier professional development conference focused on folk, roots, multicultural and world music in North America comes to Austin to kick up its heels and strut its stuff in one of the continent’s great music cities. This year’s conference theme, For the Sake of the Song, is a tribute to Texas native Townes Van Zandt, and to all our Folk Alliance members so actively engaged in the performance, preservation and promotion of folk music, dance and storytelling. Folk Alliance's Showcases for the Austin Conference will offer more opportunities than ever for artists. We're combining our "mainstage" showcases with the very successful Performance Alley that was inaugurated in Montreal to present a wider array of juried official showcases than ever before. Instead of a single mainstage performance, the Austin conference will see us utilizing the hotel meeting rooms as showcase venues for juried artists, resulting in literally hundreds of showcase opportunities for folk, world, and culturally diverse artists. All showcases will be under one roof, on two floors at the Hilton. Our Austin conference theme is For the Sake of the Song. It's for the sake of the song that these expanded showcase opportunities will be available, and we look forward to an enriched annual international conference.
